We keep it as simple and as non-destructive as possible with the top of the range Adixen/Inficon (Sensistor) Hydrogen Gas leak detector and top of the range water leak and water leak noise location equipment.
Indications of possible leaks :
- A high water account.
- Water leak noise.
- Low pressure on hot or cold water supply or both.
- Not enough hot water.
- Water meter moving when no water in use.
- A damp or wet spot on a ceiling, a concrete slab a wall or paving.
- A greener than normal patch of grass in your yard.
In most cases, we can locate water leaks to within a metre or less, which means damage to paving, tiles or concrete slabs is isolated to the area of the burst pipe only.
We don’t guarantee to pinpoint a leak in every case, (this is an industry fallacy, but the accuracy is in the high 90’s most of the time.) although most leaks can be pinpointed depending on the circumstances and conditions relating to concrete/paving/soils/clay/depth etc. and type of pipe.
Leaking plastic pipes, specifically HDPE/LDPE Monogold, Polycop and Multilayer pipes most commonly used for cold water supply underground, can be located with ground microphones and the position of the leak confirmed with trace gas sensors.
